State of Missouri is Hiring a Superintendent- 7020400 Near Rushville, MO

Salary: $2,111.61 - $2,153.84 semi-monthly *Salary may be commensurate of education and/or experience

Job Location: This position is with Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at Lewis and Clark State Park, 801 Lake Crest Blvd., Rushville, MO.

What you’ll do:

  • This position is part of the Weston Bend State Park/Lewis & Clark State Park Management unit and is responsible for the administrative and supervisory oversight of Lewis and Clark State Park; including oversight of daily operations, budgeting, directing maintenance priorities, meeting operational standards, staff work schedules, and direct supervision.
  • Must be able to exercise a high degree of initiate and independent judgement in planning and implementing the work.
  • This position supervises and evaluates one Maintenance Worker and a variable number of part-time staff and volunteers; trains employees in the areas of safety, risk management, equipment operation, and facility maintenance.
  • Greets the public and discusses the facility’s resources, rules, and regulations relating to the state park and historic site system.
  • Develop, schedule, and participate in special events, interpretive programs, and informational public meetings.
  • Establish a functional, proactive, working relationship with the media, local governments, local constituency groups and other stake holders.
  • Research, collect, organize, draft data for fiscal, statistical, and operational reports.
  • Assists in implementing state park or historic site development projects, which include expansions, new construction, renovations, and maintenance.
  • Position must be available to work on weekends and evenings, in order to respond to incidents and to visitors’ needs at the park (which is open on weekends year round).
  • This position will at times be required to assist with similar duties at Weston Bend State Park in the absence of the Management Unit Supervisor.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can include: History, Anthropology, Museum Studies, Park Management, Parks and Recreation, Education, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Business or Public Administration or related field.
  • AND One to Two years of management, supervision and participation in interpretation, preservation, protection, maintenance and enhancement of state parks and historic sites. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.
  • Available to work rotating shifts that include nights, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Ability to walk long distances on uneven terrain in all kinds of weather and environmental conditions, climb stairs, and have the ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Skill in providing information and guidance to park/historic site visitors and staff.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person and with written correspondence.
  • Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
